Digger Driver Scoops Cow From Flood Water

This is the moment a digger driver makes an udderly incredible catch as he scoops up a cow being swept away in flood water.

The cow was being washed along a flooded canal at speed with no way of climbing out of the steep concrete banks.

But video footage of the extraordinary rescue, which was reportedly shot at an irrigation canal in Calpala village, in Igdir province, Turkey, shows how the stricken heifer is plucked from the water by the giant construction vehicle.

As the cow is swept along on the fast-moving current the digger’s scoop is already waiting just above the water’s surface.

Then – with split-second timing – as the cow floats past, the digger dunks its scoop into the water and then raises it, hoisting the animal into the air.

As it places it very carefully on the dry land, the water drains away and the cow – apparently completely unharmed – rolls over and staggers to its hooves.

The cow had apparently got caught up in the floodwaters after several days of heavy rain in the region and was dragged by the currents for about four kilometres (2.4 miles) before being rescued.

The bovine was reportedly uninjured in the incident, with the digger operator being praised for his skill.
