This is the moment cops in Canada rescue a dumpster-diving raccoon by placing a long wooden plank inside the container, allowing it to escape.
The bin-raiding sticky bandit can be seen in the footage trying to get out of the dumpster, but the walls of the metal container are too high, so the cops decided to use a long wooden plank to help the raccoon out.
The animal then quickly accepted their help and climbed along the plank to safety.
Once on the rim of the dumpster, It gave a good sniff to check out if there was and trouble and looked around cautiously before leaving.
Newsflash obtained a statement from the Port Moody Police Department on 10th October saying: “A call of a raccoon in distress resulted in a rescue of the 4-legged bandit last night.
“Officers located the crying critter in a large receptacle & used a 2×4 as a ramp to help it escape from the bin. Happy to report the raccoon was uninjured & carried on!” (sic)
Raccoons are known to rummage around human rubbish in search of food and regularly become stuck in dumpsters.
