This is the moment a giant panda picks up a tourist’s camera that accidentally fell into its enclosure.

The amusing moment took place at a zoo during the Double Festival holiday in the south-western Chinese province of Sichuan.

The video, shared on Douyin, which is a Chinese version of TikTok, shows the panda picking up the camera.

Then it appears as if it tries to lick and chew the device for a minute before deciding it is not edible, and the panda leaves it in the end.

When the camera was dropped the tourist reportedly shouted: “This is more than CNY 8,000 [GBP 890]! You can’t eat it!”

It is unclear if the camera was returned to its owner.

The giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is a bear species that is endemic to China.

Netizen ‘Xiaohang ‘ commented: “Tourist: This camera is quite expensive; Panda: Is it more expensive than me?”

While ‘Old Photo’ wrote: “Who asked you to secretly photograph me?”

And user ‘Dancing Doll’ added: “Does it want to take a selfie?”
