Man Detained Over Dog In Tesla Driving Seat In China

This is the shocking moment a man left a dog in the driving seat of the Tesla in a clip that caused widespread outrage, resulting in the man being slapped with a fine.

According to the official Weibo account of Hebei Radio and Television Station’s Farmer Channel, the dog was spotted in the driving seat of a pink Tesla as it traveled at high speed down a road in Wuhan, in China’s Hubei Province on 7th April.

The incident attracted the attention of both netizens and the police, who, after learning of the situation, sent officers from the Wuhan traffic department to track down the vehicle and see it, and they also arrested the owner.

After the initial investigation, the police found that the car owner had other behaviors that hindered safe driving. So they fined him CNY 200 [GBP 22] and deducted three points from his driving record.

Many netizens said that this behavior is not only irresponsible to themselves but also endangers the safety of others.

However, it is worth pondering whether a fine of only CNY 200 and a deduction of three points is enough to deter other car owners.

Online commentator ‘hibernating water plant’ said: “Only three points for only CNY 200? Is that not outrageous?’

Then ‘Foggy’ added: “This should at least have been a case of endangering public safety in a dangerous way. So he can be sentenced to something stronger.”

And ‘136…’ added: “Being irresponsible to yourself and others should permanently revoke your driver’s license!”
