This footage shows a small dog standing on the driver’s side mirror and window as it speeds down a road at night, with the owner doing nothing to bring it inside and even stroking the pet.

The incident took place near the Sihhiye Bridge in Turkey’s capital city, Ankara, and was posted online on 11th December.

In the video, filmed from another vehicle, the dog was standing with its front legs on the side mirror and its rear legs on the door on the driver’s side of the moving car.

A lead was also reportedly used to hold the dog in position and to prevent it from falling off, although it is unclear how this would stop the pet from being badly hurt if it were to slip and end up being dragged down the road.

Netizens reacted with shock and were concerned that the pooch might fall off onto the road.

Netizen ‘hakan_yilmaz’ said: “That’s unacceptable. Anything could have happened to that dog!”

There is currently no further information about the stunt, and it is unclear if the authorities are investigating the unnamed motorist and dog owner who let his pet ride on his window.

It is also unclear why the dog was allowed to ride on the window at all, as it does not appear that it would have needed to cool down, with night temperatures in Ankara currently below zero.
