A live crocodile gave farmers the fright of a lifetime when they spotted it lurking in their crops after sneaking out from its waters.
The giant reptile caused alarm among locals in Tripuraram village. In India’s southern state of Telangana, after it invaded their farmlands on Thursday, 29th February.
It was first seen at around 7:30am as it walked across a nearby field. Later, it crawled into a paddy field and settled among the crops.
According to local media, it is very unusual for a croc to be found in Telangana farmlands and villagers sought help from forest officials.
A team promptly dispatched to the scene and they were able to capture the animal without any incident.

Telangana chief wildlife warden Mohan Chandra Pargaien said. “At around 7:30 am, we received information that locals found a crocodile in a farm in Tripuraram village.
“Immediately, Miryalaguda forest range officer along with staff rushed to the site.
“A rescue team from Sagar Wildlife Division sent to rescue the crocodile.”
A medical checkup confirmed that the crocodile was healthy.
It will be released in the Sagar dam, which forest officials said has a large number of crocodiles.
