Authorities Clean River At Tourist Site Of Piles Of Clothes Thrown By Visitors For Good Luck

This is the moment authorities clear a river of clothes tossed by tourists from the bridge above as offerings of good luck amidst festival celebrations.

The massive clean-up operation saw at least eight workers bagging up the discarded clothes from the Sui River in Mianyang, in China’s south-western Sichuan Province.

Thousands of visitors had reportedly rushed to participate in the traditional “Bridge Stepping Festival”. At the Taiping Bridge during the Chunshe celebrations from the 13th to the 15th of March.

During the festival, people crossing the bridge threw money and clothes from the bridge’s highest point as an offering, hoping it would bring them good luck and fortune.

Chunshe, also known as Chun She Jie or Spring Community Day. Is a traditional festival celebrated in some regions of China. It typically falls on the day of the Spring Equinox, which marks the beginning of spring.
