Swarm Of Mosquitoes Dominates Skies After Rise In River Levels

The extraordinary video displays a large swarm of mosquitoes dominating the skies due to the increased river levels.

The clip showed the towering mass of mosquitoes spiraling over the Mula Mutha River, in Keshav Nagar, in the city of Pune, in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, on 8th February.

According to reports from Indian media, the uncommon scene showing the mosquitoes swirling in a vortex-like pattern was attributed to the rising water levels in the river.

The Pune Municipal Corporation announced that they have initiated efforts to remove the excess water from the river.

However, the situation has resulted in locals being confined to their homes, and unable to open their balcony doors.

In addition, children are not permitted to access gardens and parks, claimed media.

The terrifying situation sparked panic among locals who took the matter to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, urging authorities to take swift action and clean the affected area.

Netizens highlighted that the site presents a possible breeding ground for various health risks and mosquito-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, and chikungunya.

X user ‘@Rakesh4Nayak’ said: “Thanks @PMCPune [Pune Municipal Corporation] for giving [a] Valentine gift of mosquitoes tornado to Keshav Nagar, Pune residents in return to their timely municipality tax payments.”

And ‘@DrSamipDCH’ added: “This looks like something straight out of a movie.”
