Stray Dog Laps Up Patient’s Drink In Hospital Ward

This is the moment an opportunist stray dog laps up an unconscious patient’s drink from his hospital bedside table.

Phone footage, apparently filmed by a visitor to the clinic’s ER in Moradabad district, Uttar Pradesh, India, shows the patient out for the count on a filthy hospital bed.

Beside him, the dog stood on its hind legs and licked up the brew from a paper cup.

It seemed to ignore a crumpled paper bag and an apple also on the table.

Then, the thirsty hound carried the cup to the floor, where it could reach the last drops more easily as the footage ended.

The clip outraged social media users over the lack of hygiene in the government-run hospital.

Local media reported that one said: “The health department should impose heavy penalties for this oversight.”

Another said the person who shot the clip should have stepped in, adding: “Instead of recording it, they should have intervened to stop the dog.”

Hospital Chief Medical Officer Kuldeep Singh said: “I have acknowledged the video and instructed the Hospital’s Chief Medical Superintendent to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

“Additionally, I have directed the CMS to take measures to prevent animals from entering the hospital.”

It is unknown what the hound was drinking, with some reports saying it was milk and others water.
