The astonishing footage shows a cow set for slaughter running on the street in a bid to escape and dragging two people holding onto a rope tied around its neck.
Surveillance camera recordings show the terrified animal storming down a snowy street in the city of Baishan, located in China’s south-eastern Jilin Province, on Saturday, 3rd February.
It can further be seen dragging two slaughterhouse employees along the ground behind it, as they tried to restrain it with a rope around its neck. A third individual joined the chase to assist.
In a second video, all three men can be seen pulling the runaway bovine back to the slaughterhouse, with a woman following behind them and using a stick to hit the cow’s bum.
One of the three individuals told Chinese media: “I didn’t dare to let go, as there’s a road ahead, and I was afraid it might injure someone.

“Fortunately, we managed to hold onto it in time, and no one got hurt.”
The footage became a massive hit after it was shared on China’s version of TikTok, Douyin, later that day. It left social media users unable to hold back from commenting.
Douyin user ‘simple wind’ said: “I’m just curious about how they managed to stop it later.”
User ‘Rocket chubby’ commented: “That’s why my mother always tells me I’m as stubborn as a cow.”
And ‘Holding hands in the breeze’ added: “Bro, remember to call me next time you go climbing like this.”
