This is the fatcat moment that Ferina the porky puss became a social media star after getting stuck in an air conditioning vent in an apartment block in Russia.

The mega-moggy had been exploring around its owner’s home in Ufa, Bashkortostan Republic, when its impressive tum got stuck in the ventilation shaft.

Video footage of its rescue quickly went viral inspiring many fans to create memes of the puss’ plight.

The clip shows a rescuer with a towel gently easing Ferina out of the narrow gap with as much dignity as possible.

Within minutes fans started to post memes based on Ferina’s head poking out of the shaft.

One showed him as the prison governor in the Shawshank Redemption movie looking through the hole in the cell wall that Tim Robbins escaped through.

Another bafflingly showed the puss as the Teletubbies’ baby-faced sun while another put Ferina at the centre of a black hole.

Newsflash obtained a statement from the Department of Civil Protection of Ufa from 4th June saying: “A story with a happy ending: a cat trapped in a ventilation system was rescued in Ufa.”

It went on: “Tonight the EDDS in Ufa received information that in the ventilation duct of one of the apartments of the building 1/1 on the street – Ferina the cat.

“The information was transferred to the management company that services this house.

“This morning, its staff freed the furry captive.”

Local media said the owners had almost given up after firefighters and police refused to come.

They then contacted the city’s Department of Civil Protection which quickly saved Ferina, who was not injured.
