Pooch Wedged Between Two Walls Freed By Firefighters

This is the moment firefighters rescue a dog that got itself stuck for two days after it tried to wriggle through the narrow gap between two warehouses.

The roly-poly pooch, called Yanko, found it could not go forwards or backwards after disappearing down the space in Hialeah, in the US state of Florida.

Local residents called in firefighters on 1st January after hearing the pooch’s desperate howling.

Firefighters first tried to squeeze down the gap themselves but found Yanko was wedged in too tight to pull out.

So they took an angle grinder to the wall of one warehouse to make a hole large enough to pull Yanko out.

Video footage released by rescuers shows a sheepish-looking Yanko scuttling out of the hole that had been cut for him in the wall.

Rescue paramedic Roly Medina told local media: “We tried everything, not to do any damage to the structure of the building.

“We put a lasso over his neck and tried to lift him a little bit. We tried to get to him. There wasn’t enough room for us to get there.”

Newsflash obtained a statement from the Hialeah Fire Department (HFD) saying: “Yesterday HFD fire personnel from A shift responded to an animal rescue incident involving a dog.

“Yanko, who had been missing for a couple of days, successfully rescued by fire crews.”
