This is the moment dozens of pigs all jump out of their sleep at once seconds before a 4.3-magnitude earthquake violently shakes up the farm.

The animals were seen collectively breaking out of their slumber in CCTV footage captured inside a farm in Yangjiang, in China’s southern Guangdong Province on the night of 4th November.

The clip shows them jumping up on all fours and crowding by the concrete walls in search of exit moments before the entire structure violently shook for several seconds.

The video was viewed more than 1.59 million views and received over 2,600 likes on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo, with many netizens praising the pigs’ sensitivity as they could seemingly feel the quake coming despite being fast asleep.

One user titled ‘Tao Ge loves Le Gao Ya’ commented: “Animals can feel earthquakes a lot earlier than people.”

While user ‘Brother Rabbit 1022’ wrote: “I hope this earthquake will not cause too many casualties and hope everything goes well.”

And user ‘Ysir001’ said: “This 4.3-magnitude earthquake was so strong, the source was probably too close.”

According to the China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC), the 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck close to the nearby city of Enping at 7:24 pm that day.

At least five more aftershocks were reportedly felt within the next half hour, with the largest measuring a magnitude of 1.3.
