This is the hard-to-watch moment a horse is gored by a raging bull during a festival and is lifted into the air by the three-quarter-tonne beast.

Horrifying footage from Cerete, in the department of Cordoba, in northern Colombia, on 9th February, shows the maddened bull
as picadors on horseback try to spike its back with lances.

As the bull chases one horse, another rider cuts across its path and the bull drives its sharp horns deep into the second horse’s flesh.

The horse’s rider jumps off and flees while members of the crowd try to distract the bull by pulling its tail.

Then the terrified horse is lifted off the ground by the bull as it rampages around the stadium and the crowd screams in horror.

As they try to drive the bull away, the footage ends with the horse still impaled on the animal’s horns.

Local media later reported that the horse died from appalling injuries sustained in the bullring.

The footage was first shared online by animal rights organisation Asociacion Amor Animal (Animal Love Association).

Senator Andrea Padilla, known for her anti-cruelty campaigns, took to social media to challenge local politicians.

She said Town Halls and governors need to be reminded “of their legal and constitutional obligations to protect animals.”

The senator has also reported the case to prosecutors to investigate, according to local media reports.
