This is the viral video where local media claims a cat can be heard warning people after sensing that something was wrong shortly before the deadly Morocco earthquake.

The footage appears to show how the cat can be heard miaowing in the background as it apparently tried to alert the two young women who had been filming themselves just a moment before the deadly quake hit, according to local TV news station Al Arabiya.

The white tail of the young cat is apparently seen briefly shortly before the device starts shaking, with the women then whimpering frantically as screams are heard in the distance in the background.

More than 2,100 people have reportedly been killed in the deadly quake that hit near Marrakesh late on Friday night, 8th September, with a magnitude of 6.8.

At least 2,421 people have also been injured, with rescuers frantically trying to find people alive under the rubble of destroyed buildings.

King Mohammed VI has thanked Spain, Qatar, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates for sending aid, according to local media.

But aid offers from a number of other countries have reportedly gone unanswered.

Remote villages in the Atlas Mountains have reportedly been left cut off after the quake destroyed a number of roads and left numerous houses flattened.

Turkey and France are among the countries that have offered aid but have had no answer from Rabat, according to reports.

The quake is the deadliest in the country since 1960.

It is currently unclear what happened after the footage ended and if the two women, who have not been named, managed to escape uninjured along with the cat.
