Hiker Captures Perfectly-Round Rainbow From The Top Of A Mountain

An adventure seeker hiking to the top of a mountain managed to capture a perfectly round 360-degree rainbow that could be clearly seen from the peak.

The rare rainbow was filmed by the unnamed hiker at a height of approximately 3,000 feet above sea level on the summit of Mount Kunyu, in Weihai, in eastern China’s Shandong Province.

The colourful circle appears to be hovering above the grass fields below and reaching towards the clouds above.

Rainbows occur when sunlight is refracted by raindrops in the atmosphere at a specific angle.

The light enters the raindrop, is internally reflected, and then exits the drop, dispersing into its various colors due to the bending of light.

This process creates a spectrum of colours that we perceive as a rainbow.

Although they are commonly seen as arched shapes across the sky when viewing from the ground, these optical phenomena are actually complete circles.

However, witnessing a full rainbow is a very sight because they require precise conditions, and they are often observed from high-altitude locations, such as mountaintops or aircraft.

The footage attracted widespread attention on social media, with many users deeming it a sign of luck and prosperity.

One user titled ‘Chinese wood god’ commented: “Awesome! Watching the rainbow from a high altitude perspective is eye-opening!”

Another user titled ‘Don Quixote’ wrote: “God wants to observe Earth’s humans, so He’s making a lens.”
