This is the touching moment a mother horse chases after a lorry carrying her baby foal as it was on its way to be sold.
The mare, reportedly a Mongolian breed, chased after the lorry for miles across a dirt road near Xilingol, in China’s northern Inner Mongolia Province.
Her owner, who was not named, said she heard the foal cry as it was being loaded on the back of the vehicle and ran after it.
Heart-breaking footage shows her and another horse following after the lorry in the snow.
The video attracted widespread attention on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, with many users pleading with the owner to reunite the animals.
One user titled ‘kaige’ commented: “I’d like to buy both of them, mainly to prevent them from being separated.”
User’ Tingting’ wrote: “Maternal love knows no species.”
And ‘Nanshan Wintersweet’ said: “This is what being a mother means, never giving up.”
The Mongolian horse, native to Mongolia, is a hardy and resilient breed known for its endurance, adaptability, and strong spirit.
These horses have evolved over centuries to withstand the harsh Mongolian climate and challenging terrains.
They are small in stature, standing around 48 to 56 inches high, with a stocky build, strong hooves, and a thick, weather-resistant coat.
