Cops Catch Raccoon Locked Inside Family’s Bathroom After It Chased Dog Into Its Owner’s Home

Cops in Canada have caught a raccoon after it got locked in a bathroom after attacking and chasing a dog into its owner’s home.

Police were stunned when they were told the furry animal had attacked the pet in the city of Langford, British Columbia province, Canada, on Tuesday, 22nd August.

They then went to the 500 block of Leckfield Ave after a second call from a concerned neighbour confirmed there were screams coming from the area at about 9.40pm.

Upon arriving on site cops reportedly found out the medium-sized dog had been tussled by the raccoon in the yard, before making a run for it into its home as the ringtail went after it.

They then found the raccoon trapped in a bathroom after petrified residents of the home managed to lock it inside.

West Shore RCMP said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “After fighting with the residents of the home, the racoon was now trapped in the bathroom.”

Video footage released by the department last Thursday (24th August) shows officers using a dog-catching pole and a lacrosse stick supplied by the family to capture the animal.

The department said: “After putting up a pretty decent fight, the racoon was secured by the officers and was released outside.”

West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer Corporal Nancy Saggar said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “This was a bizarre encounter for police.

“We generally do not attend wildlife calls however, residents in the home had received injuries from this animal and Animal Control was not available, so the officers stepped in to help.”

Both the residents of the home and their dog reportedly received minor injuries from the racoon.

Police said: “We wish them a speedy recovery.”
