This is the heartwarming moment when a fireman hauls a cat up to dry land after it tumbled into the sea.

The careless moggy had slipped from a pier in Karamursel, Kocaeli province, Turkey, and was struggling to get out.

So locals called firefighters after they heard the puss’s frantic mewing coming from under the pier.

In video footage of the rescue, one firefighter is seen in the water trying to grab hold of the frightened moggy.

Out of sight, the cat’s desperate miaows can be heard on the soundtrack as it tries to cling on to all of its nine lives.

Another firefighter on the pier has lowered a skimming net as he tries to land the slightly less than cooperative puss.

Once it has got in the net, he begins to bring the net up to the pier.

But the cat does not seem to want to wait and sprints up the net’s pole and runs off.

Newsflash obtained the footage on 9th August from the Kocaeli Fire Department, which said: “The cat stuck under the ferry pier in Karamursel district was rescued by our teams and released into nature.”
