Meet the deliveryman who is bringing people food on a donkey in Brazil after his motorcycle was confiscated during a traffic stop.

The footage shows how Pagode the donkey is filling in for Joao Pedro’s bike. In Palmas, capital of the state of Tocantins.

The 19-year-old can be seen riding the donkey with his giant food delivery bag on his back and getting off the donkey to deliver an order.

Joao Pedro told local media that a friend lent him Pagode so that he could continue making his deliveries after his motorcycle seized by the authorities because it was “scrap” and not roadworthy.

He said: “My motorcycle was already technically scrap, a motorcycle that could not be in circulation. But due to the condition it was in, it was the only one I was able to buy.

“And it was actually seized, there was no other solution.”

The images quickly went viral after being shared online, according to local media.

The young man said: “I started a couple of days ago just because a colleague of mine was here and he has a donkey.”

After the images made waves online and picked up in local media, Joao Pedro told local media. “Look, I think it’s unusual, I never thought something like this would happen, you know?

“Because it was something so natural, we didn’t imagine it would have such an impact.”

Joao Pedro said that he only uses Pagode to make deliveries in the city centre so as not to tire the animal out.

He said: “The animal is well looked after and I also don’t make deliveries all the time. I only make a few deliveries with it.

“I would only pick up the closest orders. There’s no way I can deliver very far by donkey. Because it takes a long time and it is also a lot of effort for the animal, you know?”

Local media said that the young man’s friends are trying to raise funds so that he can buy a proper motorcycle to make his deliveries.
