Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes, has erupted after a two-month pause.
The eruption began on the 10th September, and was observed at the summit of Kilauea, Hawaii.
Fortunately, the glowing lava is at a safe distance from people and structures in a national park on the Big Island.
However, the gases released by the eruption are expected to cause volcanic smog downwind of Kilauea.
The volcano’s alert level has been raised to warning status, and the aviation colour code has gone to red as scientists assess the eruption and associated hazards.
People living near the park should avoid volcanic particles spewed into the air by the eruption, according to the observatory.
