This is the skin-crawling moment three giant rats cool off in a children’s paddling pool after temperatures in Brazil hit a sweltering 60 degrees Celsius.
Horrified mum-of-three Juliane Leite spotted the huge rodents chilling out in her children’s play pool in Rio de Janeiro.
Her videos of the relaxing rats have clocked up close to a million views on social media since they were posted on 21st November.
In one clip one rat is seen floating on a child’s toy in the soothing water but the other two look as if they are taking advantage of the cool water to get steamy together.
In a second clip, one of the rats can be seen swimming through the water before hopping onto a floating baby rattle.
Leite laughed and said while filming: “Sixty degrees in Rio de Janeiro, and look what appeared in my children’s pool.”
She later threw away the pool and all its contents fearing they had been contaminated by the rats.
Leite captioned the footage: “We lost a pool.”
Many netizens expressed pity for the rats due to the hot weather, while others joked about the situation.
One social media user, ‘yascabralr7,’ said: “I have a phobia of rats, but I cannot help but feel sorry for them. They are also feeling the heat.”
Another user, ‘Rosana Ferreira,’ said: “For me, this is a horror movie. I’m terrified of rats.”
Then ‘Claudio Tokida’ said: “No one surpasses Kika singing the song ‘Your pool is full of rats.'”
And ‘Roberta Sudre’ added: “I watch the video feeling uneasy but at the same time finding it funny, with the rat on the toy.”
