The remarkable video shows a sturgeon biting an aquarium keeper in an attempt to snatch a bag of feeding fish from his grasp.
Smartphone footage captured in the city of Xi’an, in China’s north-western Shaanxi Province, depicted the massive fish approaching the male diver in the aquarium on 11th March.
The clip then depicted the sturgeon swiftly grabbing a green net bag filled with feeding fish from the man’s hand, prompting the keeper to try and retrieve it.
Following a brief struggle, he successfully retrieved the bag from the sturgeon’s mouth.
However, the persistent fish made another attempt at seizing the bag. This time, however, it ended up biting the man’s head instead.
The aquarium attendant then made his way upwards and towards the surface. He did not suffer any injuries in the incident, according to Chinese media.
The man said: “Although the sturgeon was large, it has no teeth and mainly relies on swallowing to feed itself.

“At the time, it wanted to swallow the fish bag. I quickly took the bag out [of its mouth] and it bit me and missed the bag. I didn’t feel anything anyway.”
The clip triggered many reactions after it was shared on China’s version of TikTok, Douyin, later that day.
Douyin user ‘dolphin’ said: “They are all professionally trained, and this is all expected.”
Then user ‘Xinxinyue’ commented: “Why are you still grabbing fish food? Give it to it quickly. Your life is at stake.”
And ‘Stitch’ added: “Get a helmet and lock yourself in an iron cage.”
