This is the sickening moment a pair of teenagers hurl a helpless pup 100ft down a ravine from a bridge and then shoot it when it survives.

The hard-to-watch video footage opens as one of the pair picks up the pup and carries it whimpering to the edge of the bridge in Periban, in the Mexican state of Michoacan.

Laughing and with no hint of mercy, he simply throws the small dog into the air and cheers as it plunges down the deep gorge into the water below.

Astonishingly, the pup survives the fall.

The teen doing the filming can be heard asking (in Spanish): “Did he die?”

And the boy who threw the animal off the bridge replies: “No, man. He is f*cking alive!”

Shockingly, he then pulls a rifle from his shoulder and starts to take shots at the injured animal as it yelps in agony.

It is unclear whether the gun was a hunting rifle or a lower-powered air rifle.

Although the teens have not formally been named. Local media reported that they are from nearby the town of Plan de Ayala.

It is currently unclear if the dog survived the ordeal.
