Outrage As Swarms Of Bed Bugs Feast On Psychiatric Patients At Hungarian Hospital

Relatives of people at a Hungarian psychiatric infested with bloodsucking parasites are demanding action after a video showing a bed covered in the biting insects was shared online.

The shocking video shows just one of the beds in which a patient is lying under the blankets covered in bedbugs at the psychiatric hospital in Szentgotthard, Vas County has caused outrage.

The footage was apparently taken and then leaked on social media by an unidentified person showing a single bed but reportedly all of the beds are similarly affected.

Officials claim that nursing staff at the facility, which has 734 beds, have done their best to eradicate the problem but the bedbugs continue to return.

The hospital deals exclusively with psychiatric care for mentally ill patients with chronic conditions.

According to an undisclosed source from the facility, the situation has been the same since 2018 despite the fact that some patients had tried to create a petition.

However, after years of waiting with no discernible progress footage has now been leaked causing outrage online.

The hospital apparently has two buildings both of which are affected by the bedbugs.

Several concerted efforts to solve the problem were found because they apparently missed some of the eggs which meant that the insects then return.

One nurse revealed that even when the beds were completely sterilised, and bedsheets changed, the bedbugs returned to the hospital within 30 minutes.

The scandal has apparently gone on for so long because the relatives of the patients were only permitted to interact with the patients in designated areas such as the garden or the reception area, and never went to the individuals’ bedrooms.
