A five-week-old kitten trapped inside a house cavity wall was saved after the baffled homeowner spent days working out where its frantic mews were coming from.
The homeowner – not named in local media in Dedham, a town located in the US state of Massachusetts – eventually tracked down the tiny kitty and called police for help.
Animal Control officers cleared out space to create an opening in the wall to reach the unfortunate puss.
In video footage obtained by Newsflash, the scared kitten can be seen cautiously approaching a dish of food put out by the rescuers to lure it out.
Animal Control said they were able to distract the frightened cat with the food to grab it.
The kitten – now named ‘Rowenna – was reportedly taken to the Animal Rescue League where it will receive health checks before finding a new home.
Dedham Police Department took the opportunity to remind people that: “As winter nears, animals will begin to look for places within which to keep warm.
“Egresses in walls, garages, the underneath of porches and sheds – all serve as inviting places for animals to hide, and even become trapped. Now is the time to take note of your property and seal up such locations.”
