Dramatic Landslide Caused By Coal Mining Prompts Emergency Evacuation And Destroys Village

This is the dramatic moment a roaring landslide comes crashing down a steep mountainside, sending enormous chunks of rock flying towards homes after it was triggered by intense coal mining in the area.

Shocked villagers from the Huacuowo Village, located in China’s Guizhou Province, told local media how they felt the ground shaking accompanied by thunderous noise during the 30th May incident.

They could do nothing but watch as rocks as big as houses reportedly flew down and the village got shrouded in dust.

Luckily, everyone was evacuated in time and no injuries were reported.

Yulongba Town authorities, which govern the area, confirmed that the landslide was triggered by nearby coal mining activities.

The town mayor stated that the affected villagers had been evacuated and relocated in advance, resulting in no casualties, though a pigsty was destroyed.

Geological hazard mitigation measures had already been implemented in the area before the incident.

Multiple crews are on site to clear the rubble and investigate the scene.
