When it comes to feeding the pigs, freshly cooked seafood, including crabs and lobsters, is not usually on the menu.

However, that is exactly what is offered every day by this farmer in Ningbo, which is a sub-provincial city in China’s eastern Zhejiang Province.

In one video from 8th June, he can be seen adding the expensive seafood items into the trough with the enthusiastic pigs then crunching into the tasty crustaceans enthusiastically.

Some of the sea creatures are clearly still alive and can be seen moving before being eaten up by the greedy pigs. The fact that the pigs look well-fed and healthy attracted the attention of curious online commentators.

The man, name not disclosed, said that although it looked extravagant, because he lived by the coast the seafood options were actually plentiful and much cheaper than conventional pig food, and as a result the daily diet for his pigs consisted of freshly cooked lobsters and crabs.

Online commentators like ‘Draw Draw Draw’ said: “Actually, it’s normal. There are fewer people eating seafood now. We don’t even dare to eat seafood in Rizhao, so seafood can be used for other purposes.”

And user ‘Qingkong Fresh Cut Flowers’ said: “A pig’s life is my dream.”
