The video shows the astonishing moment a chicken destroys the traffic light after it collided with it during an unsteady landing attempt.

Dash-cam footage recorded on a busy street in the city of Nanjing, in China’s coastal province of Jiangsu, depicted a queue of vehicles patiently awaiting the green light at 10am on 8th February.

A police officer can be seen standing next to the traffic light to monitor the busy traffic.

But just moments later the video captures his astonishment as the bird unexpectedly flew in out of nowhere and collided with the traffic light, shattering it before plummeting to the ground.

The officer then approached the bird to assess the situation, but the feathered creature suddenly regained its footing and swiftly ran across the pedestrian crossing to reach the opposite side of the road.

The bizarre incident triggered many comments by netizens after it was shared on China’s version of TikTok, Douyin, later that day.

Douyin user ‘Yaoyao (ancient pottery art) please don’t like it even’ said: “No one dares to claim this chicken.”

Then user ‘Did it happen?’ commented: “Did any of you catch the chicken for me? Still waiting to cook it tonight.”

And ‘Dongmi fat’ added: “This chicken flew from Hunan.”

The clip has reached more than 37,000 likes and over 27,000 shares as of 14th February.
