This is the bear-ly believable moment a huge bruin makes a terrifying charge at a camper just as he’s saying it would never attack.
The footage shows the man filming two bears while reportedly saying that they are harmless seconds before one of them suddenly charges at him, causing him to flee.
The images were filmed near the Nemrut Crater Lake in the Tatvan district of Bitlis, in south-eastern Turkey.
The man filming, who has not been named, reportedly said that he was not afraid and could be heard explaining to other people in Turkish that the bears do not attack, and can safely be approached.
He then adds that they do sometimes come near tents, but again advises that there is no need to be afraid.
But one of the bears then suddenly lunges at the person filming and images then show him fleeing while still filming before the footage ends.
The camper reportedly escaped the incident unhurt, according to local media.
Brown bears (Ursus arctos) can be found in North America and Eurasia, with a significant population in Turkey.
Turkey is also home to the much rarer Syrian brown bear (Ursus arctos syriacus), which is now considered endangered.
