A stumped rancher was utterly astonished when he found one of his calves trapped on the roof of his house with no idea how it got there.

The farmer, from the El Zacatin neighborhood, in the town of AnorI, in the Colombian department of Antioquia, discovered the calf sitting on a makeshift tin roof on an extension to his farmhouse.

Video footage from the bizarre moment on Wednesday, 25th October shows the calf sitting peacefully on top of the house with its front legs danging over from the edge.

Using boards and ropes the whole farming community helped rescue to stricken beast and coax it back to earth.

It had reportedly suffered an injury to one of its limbs when stepping on the tin.

Vets treated a leg injury but, reports local media, the calf, believed to be an Undu Brasil beef breed, is recovering.

The farmer said he had no idea how the animal got on the tin roof.

The video became a huge hit on social media platforms, leaving netizens unable to hold back from sharing their thoughts.

Facebook user Richard Ortega Gaviria said: “Once upon a time, there was a calf that wanted to be a cat.”

User Flor Grajales commented: “So cute and so comfy.”

And Mile Losada joked: “It was a witch.”
