The magic moment was caught on camera as tourists were being taken across Lanhu Lake, near the city of Linyi, Shandong Province, eastern China.

As the birds fly just inches from the water, one tourist slips her hand under a goose’s stomach and holds the bird up as they speed along.

The video – later shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok- shows a second passenger stroking another bird’s feathers before letting it fly on.

It later emerged that the grey geese have actually been taught since hatching to fly beside people.

And after years of training, the birds have developed a close bond with humans.

Seemingly impressed netizens commended the tourists for treating the geese gently.

Douyin user ‘Professional production of urea barrels’ said in a comment: “Because the tourists never hurt the wild geese, they trust people and fly so low that they touch their bellies.

“Hope no one breaks that trust!”

Another user – ‘Xiangzi’ – wrote: “That one wild goose was being lazy and stayed in the woman’s hand for a long time.”

And user ‘Pan Dongzi’ said: “I really want to hold its stomach and give it a U-turn.”
