A 70-year-old woman suffered an agonising death when she was torn to pieces by three savage pit bulls.

The woman – not named by police – was horrifically mauled by the dogs in the street in the municipality of Mairipora, Sao Paulo State, Brazil on 14th February.

Tragically, she had just become a grandmother and had not even seen the baby when the deadly attack took place.

The mauling happened when the victim went on a morning walk.

But her route took her past a housing estate where there have been multiple complaints about unchained pit bulls.

The three dogs – an adult and two pups – brought the woman down in a frenzied attack and only stopped when brave passers-by forced them to stop.

The woman was rushed to hospital but died while she was waiting to be transferred to a specialist clinic.

The dogs’ owners, when questioned, denied the animals were theirs, said local media.

Police seized the animals and are holding them while they investigate the death.

Under local law, dangerous dog breeds must be leashed, choke-collared, and muzzled in public areas.
