This is the moment a young woman is left hanging in the air suspended by her dog’s leash as the doors repeatedly open and close on her, with her pet on the other end trapped on the floor above.

Security CCTV footage from the city of Kazan in Tatarstan, Russia, shows how the woman enters the lift on the 11th floor and pushes a button to go down.

However, as she looks in the mirror, she does not notice that her pet dog, which is tied to a leash strapped around her waist, is still outside as the door closes.

When she realises, she pushes a button to open the door, but she is too late to stop the lift from moving.

She is then hoisted into the air by the leash and can be seen dangling with only the tips of her toes touching the floor as the lift door opens on the 10th floor.

She remains stuck awkwardly, still holding all her bags as the lift door closes on her again and again.

Local media reported that the woman remained suspended in the lift for some time as she shouted to other residents for help.

Finally, some people heard her cries and came to free her.

By the time she was rescued, her pet dog had already wriggled free from its leash a floor above her and was reportedly unharmed.
