This is the moment a terrified tourist is mugged by a troupe of wild macaques looking for food.

The video shows the woman covered in monkeys which are even climbing up the wall to get to her in the belief that she has hidden food.

The video was reportedly shot at Qianling Mountain located near the city of Guiyang, in China’s Guizhou Province, on 14th June.

While some clung to her head and shoulders, others appeared to be trying to get inside her bag as she tried to push them away and at one point aimed a kick at one of the monkeys.

An eyewitness said that that the woman had food in her bag which the macaques had apparently realised.

The photographer, Ms Zhu, said: “The surrounded woman’s ordeal ended when she finally took out a bag of bananas and apples and the monkeys ate them and stopped pestering her.”

Online commentators like ‘Actors In Life’ said: “I hate monkeys the most, the animal that knows how to be least grateful.”

And user ‘Y26’ said: “A group of people is not as united as a group of monkeys.”

While the user ‘Mold’ said: “Are you the monkey king? All the monkeys come to you to get close to you.”
