This is the moment two cows escape and cause an accident as they run down a busy motorway after escaping being sacrificed for a religious holiday.

The images were filmed in Petaling Jaya, in Greater Kuala Lumpur, in the state of Selangor, Malaysia, with the police suspecting the cows had been destined for ritual slaughter for the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha.

The footage shows the two young cows running along the motorway, with the first clip showing two men apparently trying to rein in the animals.

But one of them suddenly runs across the road and is hit by a car, although it quickly gets back to its feet.
