This is the hilarious moment a dog invades a football pitch and tackles the ball right from under a player’s nose.

The footage captures the moment the dog suddenly appears on the pitch at a key moment in the match between Coritiba and Cuiaba at the Couto Pereira stadium in Curitiba, Brazil, during the 40th minute of play, with Cuiaba leading 1-0, on 18th October.

The match was temporarily paused after the dog snagged the ball to cheers from the crowd.

The excited pooch can be seen trying to play with the ball, but a quick-thinking player hastily picks it up and holds it out of reach, with the dog then racing around the pitch.

After the dog ran around for about a minute, it was eventually caught by security and escorted off the pitch.

The match resumed and the Brazilian Serie A Championship’s 27th round concluded with Cuiaba beating Coritiba 3-0.

At the time of writing, Cuiaba ranks tenth with 36 points, while Coritiba is 19th (second to last) with 20 points, each from 27 matches in the Brazilian Serie A championship.

Botafogo are in the lead with 58 points, followed by Bragantino with 49 points, and Flamengo with 47 points.
