This is the moment a greedy raccoon gets a licking when it finds its head trapped in a jar of mayonnaise it had stolen from a trash bin.
The opportunist animal had been helping itself to the dregs of the jar when its head got stuck inside.
Police at a filling station in Sandusky, in the US state of Ohio, noticed the stripey-tailed raccoon running around the forecourt bumping into things.
Bodycam footage from the Perkins Township Police Department shows how officers managed to wrestle the raccoon to a standstill and gently twist off the jar.
Finally free, the raccoon ran off into nearby woodlands.
Newsflash obtained a statement from the police department dated 8th August saying: “Protect and Serve took on a little different meaning while Officers McDermott and Waechter were getting gas last night.
“‘Bandit’ the raccoon can be seen running up to them with a jar on his head.
“Officer McDermott successfully removed the jar and Bandit runs away!
“It’s often asked what is a typical day in law enforcement, and here’s proof that there is no typical day.
“Great job to Officer McDermott and helping one of our ‘residents!'”
