This is the bizarre moment a rooster almost ran out of pluck after it was beaten senseless by a woman it attacked at her family home in southern China.

CCTV footage of the encounter shows the bird as it ambushes the woman in a yard. In Changde City, Hunan Province, while she’s carrying a bowl of food on 20th January.

As the cockrell flies at the woman, visiting the city for Chinese New Year, she drops the food and whacks the rooster round the head with the now empty steel bowl.

Undeterred, her featherweight opponent shakes his head and comes back at her ankles and she swats him again.

The footage shows her whacking him five times with the bowl before she picks up a pole and chases him around the yard.

The woman, named only as Ms. Ouyang, shared the encounter on social media saying the vengeful bid attacks her whenever she comes home.

The footage went viral on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok. Getting more than 404,000 likes, 831,000 shares, and 98,000 comments.

One user titled ‘Nannan’ commented: “This video makes me believe that Chinese people are born to play table tennis.”

While ‘Hello’ commented: “I can play with this chicken for a day.”

And ‘Fu Xiaopang’ said: “I just want to know if it was stewed later.”
