Cop Saves Poisoned Snake By Giving It Mouth-To-Mouth Resuscitation

This is the moment a police officer brings a motionless snake back to life after giving it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Constable Atul Sharma received a report about a snake inside a home in Narmadapuram district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, 24th October.

The snake had entered a pipe, so the residents poured water laced with insecticides into the pipe in order to kill the snake, according to local media.

When the police officer came, the snake was pulled out of the pipe already motionless.

The footage shows Atul with the lifeless animal in his hands as he is examining it.

He seems to try to hear whether it is breathing from the mouth and then tries to find its pulse.

He is then seen placing the animal on the ground while holding its head in one hand and pouring water on it with the other.

He then repeatedly gives the snake mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before again pouring water on it.

The snake can be seen apparently starting to slowly move, as he pets it on its neck to the joy of the onlookers.

After an hour, the animal was released into the forest, according to local media.

Local media said the snake species was Ptyas mucosa, commonly known as the Oriental rat snake, or Indian rat snake.

It is a fast-moving, non-venomous and large species typically found in south and south-eastern Asia.
