This shocking video shows a fish that was apparently left wearing a gold amulet after it dropped off a woman’s wrist into a pond.
The fish, a grass carp, went undiscovered for a long time after the bracelet fell off the woman’s wrist and over its head onto its body.
Over the years, as the carp continued to grow, it was left with the bracelet pinching the middle half of its body, yet amazingly it appeared to be surviving at the pond in Xinxiang which is a prefecture-level city in China’s northern Henan province.
The owner of the fish pond only realised what happened when they caught the fish on 13th June along with several others and were planning to sell them to a fish dealer when they realised what had happened.
Mr Li confirmed the incident saying: “I found this fish this morning when I was helping the pond owner pull the net. It was still alive when I pulled it out. It was very strong.
“It must have been in there since it was young and grew like that. It is not dead yet. I had to use both hands to hold it down.”
Mr Li said: “I washed the fish after I fished it out, and after washing, part of the bracelet was still yellow, and some was black. I am not sure if it was real gold.”
He told local reporters that he had been fishing for ten years and this was the first time he had seen such a situation.
He added: “The fish should have been sold to Zhengzhou.”
Local media reported that the fish owner was still deciding what to do with it, and that the bracelet had not yet been removed.
Online commentators like ‘Chengcheng’ said: “Take the bracelet and release the fish.”
And user ‘User Hlfk4t0’ said: “U won the jackpot.”
While the user ‘Lele’ said: “Can it be saved if u take it to the veterinary hospital?”
