Curious Giant Panda Strolls Around Family’s Home Overnight To Find Munchies

The astonishing video shows a curious giant panda visiting a family’s home in an attempt to find something to munch on.

Surveillance camera footage recorded in the city of Yaan, in China’s south-western Sichuan province, showed the panda bear strolling around the residence in the late hours of 3rd March.

The video further depicted how the hungry animal navigated through the darkness and sniffed around in an attempt to find food before it moved towards a nearby garden.

A small cat then appeared behind the panda, curiously following its every step.

The video prompted many views on TikTok’s sister app for China, Douyin, after it was shared later.

Douyin user ‘It’s Orange Orange’ said: “I really envy Sichuan. Wild giant pandas appear at every turn. Unlike Northeast China, a wild Siberian tiger appears at every turn.”

Then user ‘Red core oranges’ commented: “Would pandas attack people when they see them? They look so cute.”

And ‘A small firewood’ added: “This family is lucky, the national treasure has brought blessings.”

The giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is a bear species endemic to China. That is characterised by its bold black-and-white coat and rotund body.

The species is classified as ‘Vulnerable’ on IUCN’s Red List of Threatened Species, with only about 1,800 remaining in the wild.

Habitat destruction and low birth rates are the main reasons for their status.
