Cow Intended For Religious Slaughter Climbs Onto House Roof In Bid For Freedom

A cow headed for sacrificial slaughter was so desperate to avoid its fate that it escaped its owners and climbed on top of a house roof.

The cow had escaped from its owners in a rural area of the Kadinhani municipality, located in Turkey’s Konya Province, earlier this month (June).

It had been picked out as the family’s this year’s sacrificial animal to commemorate the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice.”

During the festival, which can sometimes last up to four days, it is common for religious followers to perform a Qurbani, or animal sacrifice, which can be either a sheep, a goat, a cow, or a camel.

But the cow seen in this video apparently had a strong desire to avoid that fate, and it escaped.

It had first climbed onto the roof of a single-storey wooden barn and from there, it climbed on top of the adjacent house, reaching the edge of the roof.

In the video, its owners, not named in local media, could be seen surrounding the house, brainstorming ideas on how to catch it.

Seemingly determined in its bid for liberty, the animal moved to the other side of the roof and descended back onto the barn.

When the owners attempted to catch it at that moment, the cow jumped off the barn and continued to run away towards the end of the video.
