Huge Bird Flees Zoo And Strolls Down Road Delighting Locals

This is the moment a pelican who escaped a zoo in China strolls down a road while enjoying a taste of freedom.

Pelicans are found in many parts of the world but are not usually found in China apart from some parts of Mongolia and Hong Kong, as they generally prefer warmer climates.

The video shared on China’s version of TikTok, Douyin, shows the bird walking down the street in the city of Shenzhen, in China’s coastal province of Guangdong, on Saturday, 16th December.

In the clip, the pelican admires the surroundings while walking on the hard asphalt as a motorcyclist passes right next to it.

The animal can then be seen vomiting up food that it consumed earlier that day.

When asked by Chinese media, officials at the zoo said that all birds are free to move around.

They explained that in certain cases, the birds fly outside of the wildlife park, but most of them usually come back at lunchtime.

They said: “Once you have formed a habit, you generally won’t lose it.”

The video became a massive hit after it reached social media platforms, leaving many netizens unable to refrain from sharing their thoughts in the comment box.

Douyin user ‘grasshopper’ said: “Bloated with food, quickly, go pick it up.”

Then user ‘Sister Tina and sister Dangdang’ commented: “Just move around the Shenzhen Zoo, if you want to see the animals.”

And ‘Mysterious Azi 016’ added: “The most adorable bird among them escaped from prison successfully!”
