The victim was found by emergency responders from the Mobile Emergency Care Service, who discovered him with his hands and feet bound outside his home.

The emergency crew then alerted military police before the injured man was taken to the Emergency and Trauma Hospital of Campina Grande, arriving at around 10.50pm.

Hospital officials said he was conscious and alert when he was admitted and remained in a hospital ward.

The man, whose identity has not been released, told police that his partner had carried out the attack, claiming she first tied him up after asking to practise different types of knots on him.

According to his account, the woman was taking a civil firefighter course and used the exercise as a pretext to restrain him.

He alleged that she then severed his penis before leaving the property.

The severed organ was not found at the scene.

The victim also told police that he believed the attack had been prompted by his partner’s suspicions that he had sexually abused her two children.

Police said the couple had been together for six years and that the children, aged eight and 10, were the woman’s children and the man’s stepchildren.

According to Civil Police delegate Socorro Silva, the children had allegedly told their mother on Saturday, 5th September, that the man had sexually abused them in exchange for a mobile phone.

Their father, who had reportedly been caring for the children for about a year, filed a police report on Monday, 7th September.

Socorro said the authorities would investigate both the alleged assault against the man and the accusations involving the children.

She said: “From now on, the Civil Police will continue the investigations into both cases: the assault allegedly committed by his partner, as well as the suspected sexual abuse of vulnerable children allegedly committed by this man who is being treated at the Trauma Hospital.”

Police stressed that the allegations involving the children had not been confirmed.

The children were not at the property when the injured man was found, and authorities had not reported that they had undergone forensic examinations by the latest update.

The woman was not at the home when emergency services and police arrived and had not been located by the latest update.

Military police continued searching for her while Civil Police investigated the circumstances of the attack.

Police officers also went to the hospital to question the injured man as part of the investigation.

Authorities were expected to establish where exactly the assault took place, how the victim ended up outside the property and whether anyone else witnessed or participated in the incident.
