This is the moment a helpless whale is repeatedly hurled against jagged rocks by powerful waves before later dying after becoming stranded on a beach.
The incident happened at the mouth of the Lomas del Mar de Piaxtla estuary in the municipality of San Ignacio, in the state of Sinaloa, north-western Mexico, local media reported on 10th March.
The whale was first spotted by local fishermen early that morning as they began their work and noticed the massive marine mammal trapped close to the shore.
Video shows the animal being pushed by the surf against the rocky coastline as waves repeatedly roll its body into the stones.
Witnesses said the whale suffered visible injuries as the force of the water repeatedly smashed it against the rocks.
Because of the whale’s size and the dangerous conditions caused by the strong surf, the fishermen said they were unable to intervene directly to help the animal.
They instead alerted authorities through the 911 emergency number.
The report triggered a response from San Ignacio municipal Civil Protection and Public Security personnel, who arrived at the site to assess the situation and secure the area.
The location where the whale was stranded lies near the boundary between the municipalities of San Ignacio and Mazatlan, prompting coordination between several local authorities and environmental agencies.
Marine wildlife specialists and researchers were notified to provide technical advice on how to respond to the stranding.

The case was also reported to Mexico’s Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa), which dispatched specialised personnel to the estuary to activate the official protocol for stranded marine mammals.
Officials confirmed the whale had suffered multiple visible injuries caused by repeated impacts with the rocks as the waves continued to batter its body.
According to local reports, the whale later died after spending several hours trapped in the heavy surf.
Authorities said the carcass would be buried in the area to prevent potential health risks caused by decomposition.
