This is the terrifying moment a TV host and his seven-year-old son are stalked by a bear along a remote woodland trail in Mexico.
Star Poncho de Nigris’s horrifying footage emerged on Instagram, where he told how the fully-grown black bear had tracked them for more than a mile.
Hair-raising footage of the pursuit shows reality show host De Nigris clutching his son’s arm as they walk quickly along the path in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon state, on 20th August.
As he turns his phone to face the trail behind them, the bear can be seen loping around a bend apparently catching up on them.
At one point in the footage, his son tells De Nigris they should run for it.
But the telly favourite holds him back, telling him it could trigger the bear to give chase.
De Nigris – who boasts 4.5 million Instagram followers – looks grim-faced but seems determined to keep up a brave front for his son.
At the time of writing, the 47-year-old presenter’s video had racked up 2.8 million views on social media.
De Nigris – also an actor and businessman – wrote: “When a bear really crosses your path and follows you for kilometres with your seven-year-old son, the response is you sh*t yourself because you know you’d give your life for your child above all else.”
He added: “Another adventure we have shared together. You need to bring protection to the mountains if there are many bears. A horn for making noise!”
The bear – said De Nigris – followed him and his son for about two kilometres (1.2 miles), but mercifully never got closer than eight metres (8.7 yards).
Despite their shouts for help falling on deaf ears, they finally managed to scare the bear away and continued their walk alone.
One netizen commented on the video: “Oh, poor Ponchito, but how brave he is, keeping his calm.
“You handled it well, you were very lucky, or both. The important thing is that you’re all right.”
