Runaway Pet Lemur Leads Cops On Short Chase Around City

This is the moment two police officers capture a runaway pet lemur with the help of bystanders after it went loose across city streets.

The officers with the Springfield Police Department captured the animal after an unnamed caller said they spotted it near Kimbrough and Woodland in Springfield, in the US State of Missouri on 12th September.

They managed to capture the lemur after a brief chase, wrapping it in a towel for safety.

Springfield-Greene County Animal Control arrived on the scene and took custody of the lemur to ensure its well-being. Subsequently, the lemur’s connection to a local family was established through a Facebook post.

The police reminded all citizens that owning a lemur or any other wild animal in Springfield is illegal.

Andee Elmore, Administrator of Public Health and Environment, confirmed that the lemur is now under the care of a local wildlife rescue agency and will eventually find a new home in a zoo or wildlife sanctuary.
