This is the moment an ostrich is filmed dashing down the street in a tiny city before stopping to do a spot of window shopping.
The footage was shot in Zhaoqing which is a prefecture-level city in China’s Guangdong Province on 6th May.
The ostrich had apparently escaped a local farm, and when the Sihui City Forestry Bureau was notified they were able to track down the owner, who later reclaimed the big bird from the store.
Multiple videos posted online show the ostrich running down the street alongside cars at incredible speed, before stopping and deciding to look in the shops.
After going into the supermarket a person inside managed to use a plastic chair to direct it back towards the entrance.
A local store owner said: “It wandered around the roadside for a while, and then stayed at the door of the store. The clerk could only close the store door and did not dare to come out.”
It apparently remained in the area around the store for 20 minutes before the owner came up and managed to catch it.
Online commentators like ‘Diao Zhongjian’ said: “The long legs frightened the girl with short legs and she quickly went into the store and closed it.”
And user ‘Fa Fa Not Losing Weight’ said: “The ostrich is rushing to work! It’s late to start the live broadcast block.”
While the user ‘Little Gray Gray’ said: “I was waiting at the traffic light, and suddenly a car passed me and rubbed against it.”
