This is the moment a firefighter emerges from an inferno carrying a terrified dog out of a smoke-filled warehouse after a major blaze tore through the building in the middle of the night.
The incident happened in the Caicara neighbourhood of Pouso Alegre, a town in the south of Minas Gerais state, Brazil, on the night between 18th and 19th February.
The Military Fire Brigade of Minas Gerais said crews were called to a workshop and automotive materials warehouse located on the margins highway.
When firefighters arrived, flames were already consuming a large part of the property, and the fire was described as being at an advanced stage.
Reinforcements were requested as teams began battling the blaze to stop it spreading to nearby areas.
During the operation, the owner told crews that a female dog was still trapped inside the building.
Firefighters then drew up a rescue strategy, creating a safe access route into the structure while simultaneously controlling the flames and lowering temperatures in key areas.
Openings were made in the roof to release heat and thick smoke, improving visibility and conditions inside the warehouse.
With the situation partially stabilised, the officer in charge entered the smoke-filled building wearing full protective equipment and located the dog inside a bathroom.
Footage released by the fire service shows the firefighter emerging from the property through heavy smoke. Carrying the animal in his arms as flames continue to burn inside.
The dog was removed without apparent injuries and returned to the owner. After intense work by the crews, the fire was fully extinguished.
The cause of the fire had not been disclosed at the time of the latest update.
